Introducing "Grand" Champion Society Kenmare Starman!

I am very proud to announce Cosmo's NEW title!

On Sunday January 5, 2014, Cosmo went Best of Breed at The Palm Springs Kennel Club and earned his NEW title as ....GRAND CHAMPION Society Kenmare Starman!!!  This was quite an accoplishment since he decided to  "blow" his coat the week before! For those "non-show" people, the term "blow" means shed or lose his coat!!! and for a Collie this is very bad! especially since their coat is considered their "Crowning Glory!'  

I would like to thank Judge Mrs. Betty Jo Patrick for seeing his beautiful qualities, Diana for teaching me that, you can still win, even if your dog is naked! (she knows what I mean), my mentor Martha Ramer for always encouraging me and my boyfriend Al who stood by me and did all the behind the scenes stuff!

UPDATES!

Well....Here we go again!....Seems like just  yesterday when I posted, "I'm Back!'  That was nearly 2 years ago! WOW times flys! So, let's catch up!  Since then Kenmare Collies  have all moved to a new house and town! We are now located in the beautiful city of La Canada Flintridge! A small afluent comuntiy along the foothills in So. California. The Collies are all adjusting just fine, and have anounced their presence in the neighborhood. For those of you who have Collies. or know anything about them? They are a vocal, yes vocal breed! and mine are NO EXCEPTION! Now, being that this comunity has alot of elderly people and most of the time usually quiet, some of the neighbors were NOT thrilled about us! Of course, it doesn't help living in "Bear Country!" seems like every week we have a bear visitor in this town! Either walking down the middle of our street, climbing over the backyard walls....Just to take a little dip in a pool now and then! Can't blame them, especially when the summers can get up to 107 here! NOT FUN!!!!  Anyways, enough of the bears!... Let's talk about The Riding Trail that is right behind my backyard! YEP!!!... NOT GOOD for a VOCAL BREED!!! The Trail butts right up to my yard. We have horses galloping by everyday, all day! (Collies-Herding Breed), then the usual "Lookie Loos" who decide to stop and look over my gate at the yard, see who is barking on the other side!(Collies-freaked out at strangers peaking over wall), The CONSTANT parade of joggers, hikers, kids running, Teenagers doing God only knows?, a resident Male Cougar(THANK GOD for The Collies!), and the lovely dog walkers who let their dogs off leash (sign clearly marked-DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH!) who all stop at my gate, pee, visit the Collies or plain Ole' fence fight!  What's a poor Collie to do?......BARK!!!!!!!!!!! Lol!!! Now, I didn't EVEN mention the family of Racoons who live in the big tree JUST outside the gate! Ask my dear friend Diana who stayed with me one weekend this summer. The STRANGEST NOICES I have EVER HEARD!!!! I think she will need to BLOG a story about that visit! Poor Brenna and Cosmo! Which leads me back to The Collies!

Cosmo CH. Society Kenmare Starman is 1 minor little point away from achieving his new title of "Grand Champion!" The puppies have all grown up and flown the coop, and last weekend we took a long and stressful car trip to breed Brenna hopefully the last time?! We'll know begining of Decemeber?

My son is now a Sophmore at La Canada High School, and doing all the normal teenage stuff! Cars, Girls!, Girls! Girls! (did I mention Girls?) and  Sports!

Well guess thats all for now? Life is always interesting and ever changing around here, but, I guess if nothing changed life would be pretty boring!

Here is an arial shot of the puppies. We took photos of all of them but they are so consistent in look but maybe it's the apple martinis because we can't remember who is who. So we are just putting up photos of 2 puppies and Dina will get better photos later after her friend Diana leaves.

Cosmo Wins Best of Breed at South Bay Collie Fanciers

After a long break from the show ring, Cosmo's back to  win Best of Breed today at the South Bay Collie Fanciers Specialty today!!! and on Saturday to get a "Special Select" from the judge! 

Good job Cosmo! I was very proud!

I'm Back!!!

Well, after a 3 year break.....Kenmare Collies are back!.....Lots of changes, lots to write and talk about since December 2009! Pheeeewwwwww ;) I know my dear friend "D" will be SO SHOCKED when I text her and say.."BLOG ALERT!" Lol! So, this ones for YOU D! New location, New house, New Pets, New EVERYTHING!!!! EVEN a SURPRISE NEW LITTER, Yep! 5 collie puppies! "Brenna" Ch. Kenmare Midsummer Night's Dream took it upon herself to get pregnant, hide her pregnancy, deliver by herself, clean them up, dry them off, placed them all in the middle of a doggie bed!! in the garage! WOW!  WHAT A GOOD MOMMY!!!! I feel SO HORRIBLE! Oh well, I am happy to report Brenna and puppies are ALL doing great! I will be posted pics of the ADORABLE group soon! Glad to be back!

Heaven On Earth!

This is my friends, Diana and Tony's place. If you go to her BLOG you will see the same picture posted. Diana posted this picture today and like usual, sent me a "BLOG ALERT", which is CODE for.. "Go Look at my BLOG", I have to admit I have fallen back on my "BLOG ALERTS" this past year, I plan on making a New Year's Resolution to get back on track! Anyways, I went to her Blog after the "BLOG ALERT", and scrolled through the thousand new pictures and NOVEL STORIES that she writes (you know I love you D. Lol :) ).... When this picture caught my eye!  There is something SO ethereal about this picture, it's like Diana actually captured "Heaven On Earth"!!! I can almost see Angels in this moment, what a beautiful and tranquil shot! I am just sure that in that light is my Mom,Grandmother, Pierre and Tammy. What a BEAUTIFUL PICTURE of HEAVEN DIANA!

The Arabians

I LOVE this picture of Diana's 4 Arabians!...they are so beautiful when they run, play and chase each other. This is the view from the new guest house living room! It really is heaven on earth there!

So, this is MY BEAUTIFUL horse "Sabi".....ok, so I just basically stole him from Diana...and like the true friend that she is, she is just fine with this!..... I can remember the first time I met Sabi, it was at Diana and Pierre's home in Agua Dulce in Southern Calif. about 8 years ago. I went to visit Diana, and of course we were outside "playing dog show", when all of a sudden I realized she had 3 horses about 20 yards away from me!!!! WHAT...ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! HORSES!...I have ALWAYS WANTED A HORSE, ever since I was a little girl!!!!!!!!... so, Diana took me over to meet the 3 boys  Tahoe, Sabi, and Ali'i, 3 Beautiful Arabians. I was in heaven. I really can't remember which horse came over to me first, all I do know is, I had my head turned looking in a different direction, when all of a sudden I felt this warm, fuzzy, hot breath on my shoulder....YES, it was Sabi!.....he came right over to me and rest his head on my shoulder. I have never felt such a connection with such a big animal before, he might as well have been a puppy!.....well, ever since that day...it has been love!

 Now Sabi lives on 25 acres in Auburn, pure heaven! He looks so happy with his little horse family....Tahoe the leader!!!, then second in command is Sabi, Aura, mommy to be!, then comes the very sweet and pretty Ali"i with his 2 hind white socks. I got to visit my dear Sabi this past weekend, I really don't know if he remembers me, but I want to think he does, it's the way he looks right into my eyes with those BIG BROWN eyes of his, almost like he is saying..."Move up here, so I can see you everyday". Oh MAYBE someday My Dear Sabi...SOMEDAY!!!!!!!!

Northern California Specialties!

Well, the weekend started off with a BANG!.....Driving to Auburn to stay with dear friends, Diana and Tony, in their new beautiful guest house!!!! WOW, they live on the most amazing piece of land.....HEAVAN!....anyways, on with the story......here we are the morning of the first show, don't we look excited and fresh?.....well, the day did continue to be happy, Brenna went on to win "Winner's Bitch" for her first MUCH NEEDED MAJOR, and a 4pt. MAJOR  to top it off!!!!! One more major needed to become a Champion! Brenna was on FIRE!!!!!!!!! I have never seen her show like this before, it's almost like she knew what was at stake!

The "LINE UP"... Brenna was not about to break her pose, even if a hurricane suddenly hit! This became the constant joke of the weekend, every time I looked a Diana, she was staring at Brenna and smashing her bait into little pea size meat balls, the look on Diana's face was PRICELESS, I had to look away from her or I would have busted up laughing and broke my concentration! She looked so disgusted at Brenna, I could almost see the little bubble above her head saying....." Give me a break Brenna, you are such a damn show off, can the rest of us have a chance!!!", I know Diana knew what was a stake, and was very happy for me.....I felt her sending me positive thoughts and images! in fact, she kept telling me "GO FOR IT".

You would think Diana was looking at her bitch...but NO, she is throwing those looks at Brenna, LOL,LOL,LOL.....See her hands?... smashing those little pea size meatballs!

Brenna's up for examination....... "Don't move Bren, watch me!!!"...I kept whispering to her, and she did everything I told her to!....... Brenna did go on town to win the Bred By class, AND...WINNER"S BITCH for a 4pt. major, the first of the MUCH needed 2 to finish!

Ok...now, to really understand this picture, you REALLY needed to be there in person. My words will never do it justice! This is where Diana made me cry, I was laughing so HARD!!!!!!! After a long hard fought out  battle in the ring against Brenna, I think Diana had just had it with her being SO PERFECT and posing like a statue every time she looked at her, also you need to take this into consideration, Diana hadn't eaten ALL DAY (me too), or drank any fluids (me  too), she was hot, sweaty, feet sore, stressed about hosting her first little gathering in her new home that evening....we walk in the house, plopped down on the couch, exhausted and began to replay the days events.....when ALL OF A SUDDEN....Diana reaches behind her for this little horse statue that was sitting on the window ledge above the couch and as calm as can be, almost in SLOW MOTION, places it on her knee, looks  up at me, with that same DISGUSTED look on her face that I saw all day in the ring every time she looked at Brenna....and said...."BRENNA"......and she just froze, didn't crack a smile, didn't move one single face muscle, in fact, didn't move at all...ANYTHING!!!! she just kept saying..."BRENNA"...."BRENNA"...."BRENNA"....I laughed my ass off!!!! She just SNAPPED! So, here is the little Arabian horse statue that will forever remind us of..."BRENNA" and what a great poser she is.  I LOVE YOU D.

I LOVE this picture of Diana and Tony! We had so much fun! This was the after math of the little gathering at their house. It was a success! Thank you again Diana and Tony for letting me stay with you both.....and a SPECIAL THANKS to TONY! for being a good sport!...YOU KNOW WHY!!!!!!....."Monday Afternoon"  :)...I love you both.
